Rather than fighting over these resources, the early Voss quickly realized that trade was far more efficient than bloodshed. Their history is not marked by great wars or heroic conquerors, but by the signing of historic ledgers, the establishment of massive mercantile guilds, and the gradual monopolization of their planet's economy. To the Voss, everything has a price, every interaction is a negotiation, and profit is the highest form of virtue.

When the Voss discovered the ruins of a precursor starport on their moon, they didn't marvel at the scientific implications; they immediately calculated the profit margins of interstellar trade. They eagerly reverse-engineered the hyperdrive technology, viewing the galaxy not as a vast, terrifying unknown, but as the ultimate untapped market. They didn't send explorers or conquerors into the void; they sent venture capitalists, sales representatives, and corporate surveyors, eager to establish a monopoly on the stars.
Society & Culture
The Voss Trade League is a sprawling, hyper-capitalist oligarchy ruled by a board of mega-corporate CEOs. Their society is highly stratified based on wealth; citizens literally buy their social standing and voting rights. Despite this, the Voss are surprisingly affable and charming. They are master negotiators, always ready with a smile, a firm handshake, and a contract laden with fine print. Their architecture is opulent and ostentatious, designed to display their immense wealth to all visitors. They view war as a wasteful, inefficient way to resolve disputes, preferring to simply buy out their enemies or hire mercenaries to do the fighting for them.
Military Doctrine
The Voss military is, quite frankly, an afterthought. They view standing armies as a drain on the quarterly profit margins. Their naval fleets are composed mostly of heavily armed freighters and corporate security vessels. They lack the martial discipline and combat experience of other species, resulting in poor accuracy and sluggish maneuvers. However, what they lack in skill, they make up for in sheer funding. Voss ships are equipped with top-of-the-line defensive shields and armor, purchased from other factions or built using their massive industrial base. They win battles by simply out-spending the enemy.
